Argus Field Unit
The ARGUS
FIELD unit is the basic building block of the ARGUS telemetry system.
'Powered' by a high performance 16 bit microprocessor, this RTU comes
with 8 digital inputs, 8 digital outputs, 4 analog inputs, re-programmable
Flash memory, battery backed-up RAM, two communications ports, real-time
clock and free user configuration software. Very large systems can
be implemented with support for 255 networks, each with 255 RTU's.
Local programming can be achieved using a laptop PC, or remote programming
is possible via the PSTN or by the integrated radio modem. Event reporting,
store and forward data transfer, background polling, time stamping
and data logging are only some of the features available. Expansion
hardware can be added to give additional I/O ports and radio capability.
The packaging is a welded steel construction with a minimal mounting
footprint. Additional clips are supplied as standard to allow DIN
rail installations. |

Field Unit Height Extender
The extender unit allows two additional I/O cards to be connected
to the basic ARGUS Field Unit. Space is also provided for a radio
module. The Argus RTU fits on top of the extension unit thus preserving
the original small footprint. The base plate of the RTU transfers
to the base of the extension module. The illustration above shows
the extender with two expansion I/O cards fitted, plus two DIN rail-mounting
clips. Multiple extender units can be 'piggy backed' to further increase
the number of I/O connections. Additional I/O cards 'daisy chain'
using the processors SPI bus protocol. Connection to the ARGUS RTU
is via ribbon cable.

Digital Input Card
This card provides an additional 8 digital inputs to the ARGUS Field
unit. Three versions are available, type 'A' is the standard type
responding to voltage free contacts while types 'B' and 'C' have
opto inputs with different sensitivities. The extender unit, (9000/30),
can accommodate two of these cards giving a total of 24 inputs for
the RTU.

Digital Output Card
Two versions of the 9000/32 output card are available, the 'A' version
with 8 N/O relay connections and the 'B' version with 8 open collectors.
By installing two of these cards into the 9000/30 extender module,
a total of 24 outputs can be provided with the ARGUS RTU.

Analog Input Card
The 9000/44 provides 8 additional, 8 bit analogue inputs for the
ARGUS RTU. The 'A', 'B' and 'C' variants offer the three industry
standard input levels, namely 0-5V, 0-10V and 4-20mA. The extender
module, (9000/30), can accommodate 2 of these input cards thus giving
the field unit the capability of monitoring up to 20 analog inputs.

Analog Output Card
This card provides 8 analog outputs for the ARGUS RTU by using the
9000/30 extender module. The three industry standards are offered,
i.e., 0-5V, 0-10V and 4-20mA. By installing 2 cards in the extender
module, up to 20 analog outputs can be supported by the ARGUS field
unit.

Maxon Radio Module
The Maxon radio module is a high performance unit specifically
designed for data transmission. It is ruggedly constructed and
fits neatly into the base of the 9000/30 extender module. Cables
for connection to the RTU and antenna, (BNC), are provided.
